I hope that you are enjoying this lovely spell of warm summer sunshine. I have taken the opportunity of wearing some of my summer clothes which have spent far too much time hidden in the wardrobe.
My latest charity shop purchase is this casual cotton top. It is white with tiny mauve spots and has cropped sleeves. It has a tie front and is not something I would have worn a few years ago when I followed a far stricter modest approach to my outfits. The top cost me £1.50.
I found these high-waisted trousers in Primark. I think they were £8.99 and are in an unusual shade of purple. They are in a soft-type of brush denim and have straight legs and a front button feature. It is my first pair of trousers with a high waist and they are very comfortable to wear.
Only a few years ago, I would not have dreamed of wearing tight trousers, especially in public. It took me a long time to wear trousers without covering my bottom with a long cardigan or tunic but I have gradually modified my stance on my clothing. I wore these trousers on a country walk on Sunday without any worries of being seen by other people.
Have you modified your clothing standards over the years?
I love this cute outfit! The tie-front top is really cute on you, but the trousers really look amazing. I love high-waisted anything, and I'm happy to see it have a come-back.
ReplyDeleteI've modified somewhat over the years (if you ever click back on my early posts from 2008-2009, you'll notice), but that's more an effect of just my evolving tastes and style.
Thank you Sheila - my style has dramatically changed in the last 5 to 6 years!
DeleteFun little outfit and I love the color of your trousers. My clothing has evolved as my style as changed and I am learning to try new things and see what is comfortable and stylish on me.

Thank you Mireille - it is good try new things from time to time
DeleteRebecca, I love that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying new styles. You look amazing in these high waisted jeans, too. Such a cute outfit! I have definitely become bolder in my outfit choices in the past few years as well. In fact, I am wearing a crop top right now as I type this...at 45 years old. At 35 I thought I was too old for a crop top! This post will be featured on tomorrow’s #SpreadTheKindness Link Up.

I love the entire outfit on you. The shirt is really cute and the pants are a beautiful color. It's taken me a while to be comfortable with wearing shorter tops with my jeggings (still won't do it with leggings) and I still wouldn't say I'm comfortable with it. I've definitely changed over the years. I think I'm dressing a bit "younger" now where I was kind of "frumpy" years and years ago.

Such a fun printed shirt, it looks so cute knotted with the high waist jeans! :) I think my style has simplified over the years - I tend to rely on accessories for colour and interest in my outfit, and of course with two toddlers everything has to be machine washable, haha!
ReplyDeleteHope that you had a great weekend :)
Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp :) I just posted this week's linkup, I'd love you to join again! :)
