White Coat and Scarf

I have been looking for another warm winter coat since the weather started to get chilly in early December. I was therefore pleased last weekend to spot this white coat in a charity shop. It is a thick woollen material with a lining and is of the length that I prefer. It was in excellent condition. It cost me £10 and I am sure that it was much more than that when it was new. I am not convinced that the colour will be practical over time as it will probably show every mark but it can be dry-cleaned!
I decided to add a splash of colour to the outfit with this scarf which was a Christmas present. I am now ready for any cold weather February may bring!

Casual Trousers

For once, not a charity shop find!

I have been searching for a pair of casual trousers that are modest in style for some time. I have said several times that I just don't like the image of jeans although I know that there are several pairs on the market such as Freddies of Pinewood which are quite modest in style and I have been tempted to explore further.

However I spotted these brown trousers on a market stall in Bristol a few days ago during my lunch break when on a course. They happened to be my size and I love the style with wide legs and not too tight around my bottom. I tend to wear trousers far more when the weather is cold (and it has been cold and damp in the UK recently) and these will be ideal for wearing around the house and in the garden. The trousers cost me £8.50.

The modest style will also enable me to wear them in public without feeling the need to wear a tunic or long top to cover my rear.

Would you wear these trousers?

Too Good for Work?

My latest charity shop find is this white top which I bought for £2.50. I thought that it would be a useful addition to my work tops. (my office dress code is white tops and black skirts or trousers) but, with all the detailing on the front, I am wondering if it is too elaborate for day to day work wear and I may keep it for special occasions. It does not contain a label showing its High Street origin but it was made in China and is dry clean only.

I am pleased with it anyway but what do you think?

With the current cold weather and dark evenings, we decided to try to cheer ourselves up and had a look at some holiday brochures. We have booked a short break over the Easter School Holidays to Scotland. You may recall we visited Central Scotland last autumn and this time we are going to some of the more remoter parts including some of the islands off the west coast. As Easter is rather early this year, we just have to hope that there is not too much snow around!

Colder Weather Forecast

After months of above average temperatures in the UK, the forecast for next week is colder winds from the north with the possibility of sleet and snow flurries. We have not had any significant snow in South West England for over two years so we will have to see if any reaches us this year.

My first charity shop purchase of 2016 is this jumper which might soon be needed if the temperatures fall outside. It was new to Primark and cost me £2.50. I would have preferred full length sleeves but I liked the colour and detail around the collar. It will go with most things and is very warm and comfortable and a bargain at that price. It is also long enough to safely cover my rear when in public to increase modesty.

Have you got your warmer clothes ready for the winter weather?

Welcome to 2016

This is my first post in 2016 so I would like to wish all my blogger friends a Very Happy and Healthy New Year.

This skirt is a favourite of mine. I bought it back in the summer in a charity shop for £3.50. I like the colours and the length which is great for my modesty standards. Far too many skirts which I like colour wise tend to be too short and therefore not suitable for me.

The top came new from Primark several years ago and the jacket has been in my wardrobe for sometime. It gets a lot of wear when the weather is dry but a little chilly.
Hopefully, in my next post, I will be able to show my first charity shop purchases of 2016.
